How It Works

Your First Visit: The Comprehensive Evaluation

Your journey begins with a 60–90-minute in-person evaluation. This appointment allows me to understand your full picture — not just your symptoms, but the underlying causes contributing to them. I offer myofunctional therapy for both children (ages 4+) and adults, with care tailored to each stage of development and individual needs.

During this visit, we will:

  • Review your detailed health, birth, and developmental history

  • Discuss your current symptoms, daily challenges, and personal goals

  • Conduct a comprehensive functional assessment

  • Take photos and videos to evaluate:

    • Tongue mobility and tone

    • Chewing and swallowing patterns

    • Muscle balance and function

    • Signs of potential orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs)

You’ll receive a detailed written report summarizing findings, recommended referrals if needed, and a personalized therapy plan tailored to your goals and lifestyle — delivered within one week of your appointment.

Evaluation cost: $245, due at the time of service.

What Therapy Looks Like

Your therapy plan is customized based on your specific needs and the complexity of your OMDs. Most clients work with me for 12–18 sessions over the course of 6–12 months. We typically meet every two weeks, with sessions lasting 30–45 minutes. Each session builds on the last as we progress through a structured, evidence-based approach. Between sessions, you’ll continue with 10–15 minutes of guided daily exercises at home — consistency is key to long-term success. Improving function takes time, patience, and partnership. My role is to guide, educate, and support you through this process so that changes are sustainable—not just short-term fixes, but lasting improvements that support overall health and well-being.

Appointment Options
In-person and virtual sessions are available for older children and adults. The initial evaluation is always done in-person.

The Four Phases of Therapy

  1. Exercise Focused – Learn foundational movements, establish tongue tone, breathing coordination and build awareness of proper oral resting posture.

  2. Functional Application – Apply those new skills to more complex movements like chewing, swallowing,

  3. Habit Formation – Reinforce consistent tongue posture and correct swallowing patterns throughout your day and night.

  4. Maintenance and Reinforcement – Support long-term integration and retention of these habits into everyday life.

Each phase is individualized — we move forward only when your muscles, habits, and breathing patterns are ready.

A Collaborative Approach

Myofunctional therapy is often one important piece of a larger puzzle. When appropriate, I may recommend collaboration with other professionals such as orthodontists, ENTs, osteopaths, bodyworkers, craniosacral therapists, airway-focused dentists, or sleep specialists. This team-based approach ensures that every aspect of your oral and airway health is supported.

Payment and Insurance

Payment
Payment is due at the time of service. A 3% surcharge applies to all credit card payments.
Insurance
I do not bill insurance directly. Clients are responsible for submitting claims and communicating with their insurance providers.
HSA / FSA
I accept HSA and FSA card payments. It’s recommended to check with your card issuer to confirm coverage for myofunctional therapy sessions.
